Sherelle – 160 Down The A406 / Rhythm Love (Feel It)

6 Figure Gang’s Sherelle Thomas inks the 160 gospel on this debut double-header that straddles cheeky footwork, vintage jungle, fuzzy Detroit xtasy and ‘ard dance grot. Properly hybrid music fer fans of Goldie, Carl Craig, Rashad, RP Boo, Sinistar or Sully.

London-based DJ and label boss Sherelle has been making waves over the last few years, helping not only kickstart a resurgence of interest in jungle, but also weave it into footwork and hard dance, linking dance innovations from both sides of the Atlantic.

‘160 Down the A406’ takes a similar route, dissolving booming 160 bpm kicks into a haze of euphoric pads and acidic breaks, sounding like Omni Trio jamming with DJ Spinn. But there’s a London cheekiness that gives Sherelle’s production a character all of their own.

Flipside ‘Rhythm Love (Feel It)’ highlights this further, with liquid synth washes drizzled over wrecking ball kicks and k-hole sfx. Heavy af.
