Mind Against & Locked Groove – Elysium / Pulsar

If someone was to develop a dating website to hook up electronic music acts with collaborators, then Italian pair Mind Against and Belgian producer Locked Groove would surely be a “strong match.”

Both like lingering atmospherics and emotional flourishes, though on Elysium / Pulsar Locked Groove’s punchier aesthetic prevents it from being a case of more personnel but no new ideas.

“Elysium”‘s simmering mid-track breakdown and sudden flurry of emotional keys makes it a good fit for Life & Death labelmates Tale Of Us—indeed, the track was included on the duo’s Essential Mix a couple of weeks back, and will doubtless feature in their sets for the foreseeable future. “Pulsar” is made of similar stuff, but its scattered keys make it more volatile and erratic than its counterpart.

In essence, though, both tracks glide forth in the luxuriant style that their creators have made their own.
